The unique and renowned design of the ‘Predator 165’ hybrid hull combines a deep-V bow with a pronounced flare that cuts cleanly through the water and helps ensure a smooth and dry ride. From the bow, the water passes under the hull where it follows the graceful lines as it forms into a semi-cathedral hull at the stern of the boat. This gives the Predator 165 a level of stability and precise handling unrivalled in its class.
A huge benefit of the hybrid, semi-cathedral hull, is that it provides a greater deck area whilst increasing stability when stationary. This makes the Predator 165 an ideal boat for fishing, diving, water skiing, use as a work boat, or just for family fun.
The Predator 165 was developed to be one of the safest sea-going fishing boats in its class; and the objective of being ‘unsinkable’ just wasn't good enough for Predator Boats. "A boat can be called "unsinkable" even if its stern is held under water by its outboard motor and its bows are pointing up at the sky like a rocket! What help is that to you if you are five miles offshore and alone in a bitterly cold sea? "This doesn't happen with the Predator 165. The below deck area is sealed and filled with closed cell foam from bow to stern which creates a huge buoyancy chamber. This is unlike many other fishing boats currently on the market which have buoyancy tanks that are only partially filled. Together with the "life-ring" of buoyancy that is built into the hull of the Predator 165, it means that a punctured hull or swamping is not the danger that it is with so many other open fishing boats as the boat will still float level and protect its crew! During the initial development, the Predator 165 was subjected to the most severe testing, all under the close scrutiny of an independent marine surveyor who commented ’’I don't know of any comparable boat that could have survived the tests I have just witnessed”.
For those concerned about future maintenance in years to come, the “Predator 165 Evolution” is the first boat in its class to offer the additional option of being completely “wood free”. The “wood free” option is achieved by replacing all wooden components, including the floor and transom, with Coosa Composite panels. Coosa composite panels are engineered from a blend of fibreglass and high-density foam, providing an ideal balance of strength and weight saving.
The standard Predator 165 comes with a host of fittings as standard. Together with the optional accessories, the Predator 165 is competitively priced with the aim of supplying the safest boat in its class that is designed to perform, and built to last.
The Predator 165 is a truly remarkable boat, built to the highest standards using Lloyds approved materials. But you don't have to take our word for it, visit Douglas Marine and test one for yourself!
